John was a frequent visitor to American Legion Post 176 in Springfield, VA.  When I first started to manage the Post he would be in the cafe at 7:00am.  He liked his routine of having some breakfast before heading into work.  We shared our travels and stories of those far away places where few people have been.  John helped the post with repairing our video cameras around the building became a friend to all the cafe staff.  He was a great soul and a blessing to us all.
