Mary Catherine “Macy” Sellers Moeller Hailey, 88, of Salem, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 11, 2016.

She was born on November 8, 1927 at the family home on Academy Street. Mary graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in 1946 then entered nursing school at Lewis-Gale Hospital graduating in 1949 as a registered nurse. She was a dedicated caregiver with over 20 years as an Emergency Room nurse, first at the original Lewis-Gale Hospital on Luck Avenue moving to the new hospital in 1973. She retired in 1981 to spend time with family and travel. She loved to bowl and volunteer at Lewis-Gale Hospital and the Salem Food Pantry.

She was a life-long member of Salem Presbyterian Church. Her passion was music and she sang in the church choir for many years. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and enjoyed life to the fullest. Her smile was her greatest asset.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 21 years, Harold G. Moeller; husband, Cliff Hailey; parents, William and Elizabeth Sellers; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth Shelor (Neal) and Gene Vaughan (David); and great-grandson, Dylan Patrick Fischer.

She is survived by her loving family which includes her children, Cathy Moeller Fischer (Chuck), Michael Weilage Moeller (Lisa), and Andrea Moeller Carey (Peter); grandchildren, Chris Fischer (Laura), David Moeller, Beth Lawrence (Kyle), Adam Fischer, Denise Carey, Christy Carey Fish, and Stacy Carey Powell (Mike); great-grandchildren, Taylor Grace Fischer, Graham Fischer, Jude Lawrence, Kinsley Fischer, Asher Lawrence , Andrea Fish, Ella Fish, and soon to arrive, Naomi Elizabeth Lawrence; special nieces and nephews, Bill Shelor (Cyndi), Ray Shelor (Debbie), Ellen Harrison (Neil), Susan Adkins (Scott), Jean Field (Jeff), and Charlie Shelor; as well as several great nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Oaks Assisted Living at Richfield, the staff of 5 West at Lewis-Gale Hospital, and to Dr. Syed Haider for the loving and compassionate care she was given. Also, a heartfelt thanks to Jean Chester of the Oaks and Kitty Beehner for being such wonderful, caring friends.

A period of visitation will be held on Monday, June 13, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Salem Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Will Robinson and Rev. Janet Chisom officiating. The graveside service at East Hill cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may expressed to Salem Presbyterian Music Fund or the Salem Rescue Squad.
