Donovan went with us to the Allgood Music Festival a couple of years in a row. We had the smallest group the first year, just my wife, Carla, our kiddo, Alex, Donovan, and myself. We had a really big tent, more than big enough for the four of us. But Donovan had brought his own, a very nice but very tiny one-person job, and he was determined to use it. We set up camp that first night, enjoyed some music, and turned in.

The next morning Carla and I awoke early and started coffee. Alex was soon behind us. As we sat enjoying the West Virginia mountaintop air, the sun rose and it began to get pretty hot. Not long after, there was a stir in Donovan's tent. Then, out of nowhere, he suddenly burst out of the tent all hot and sweaty, looking like a scene out of Ace Ventura! It was hysterical!

The four of us sat there, laughing and carrying on about Donovan's grand entrance. We had so much fun that morning, and it lasted for the rest of the festival.

When I think of Donovan, that is always what comes to mind first. He was so happy, and he had a way of making everyone around him laugh. This memory and many others will be in our hearts forever, and in that way he will always be with us.

Fare thee well, Donovan.
Bill, Carla and Alex
