Obituary for Robert Wayne "Bob" Pickle

Robert W. “Bob” Pickle, 66, of Salem, Va. passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019. Bob persevered through many health issues to have a full life with his family and friends. He was born on September 2, 1952, to the late Charles W. Pickle, Sr. and Rebecca Epperly Pickle. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Charles W. Pickle, Jr.; and his sister, Nancy Pickle Via. Bob heard the call of the country and served as a United States Army Reservist. Afterward, he had a long career in the automotive industry working for Advance Auto and Pep Boys. Bob was witty and full of life. He dearly loved his family and friends. He knew his way around the kitchen, and food was a true pleasure. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, UVA sports and traveling. He is also a member of Life Church in Roanoke.
Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Susan L. Board; daughters, Kristie Myers (Marshall), Stephanie DeHart; granddaughters, Kayla and Konner Myers, and Madeline DeHart; sisters-in-law, Debbie Denison, and Kathy Masincup (Wayne); brothers-in-law, Paul Yetter, and Terry Board (Mary); nieces, Jennifer Loesel (Laurence), and Melissa Hodgkinson; and great-nephews and niece. The family would like to extend special thanks to his many caregivers.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to the Fort Lewis Fire and Rescue Station, 3915 W. Main St., Salem, Va. 24153.
