Obituary for Jean Lee Von Rosenberg (Ward)

Jean Lee Von Rosenberg, referred to affectionately by her grandchildren as Dana, was 88 when she passed away on the morning of January 30, 2019, in her home in Roanoke, Virginia. Jean was born in El Paso, Texas on September 2, 1930, and grew up in Belton, Texas. Jean graduated from Belton High School in Texas. She married the love of her life, the late Edgar Lynn Von Rosenberg, on June 13, 1948. They were married for 58 years before his passing, during which they lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Houston, Texas. She was an active member of the Houston Assembly of Delphians, Point Counter Point, the Houston Wives of Engineers, the Presbyterian Church, as well as various book clubs. She also volunteered at the Houston Museum of Art and M. D. Anderson. Jean and Edgar formed the Von Rosenberg Foundation for promising young college students to help them achieve their educational goals. She was passionate about her family, travel, fashion, politics, and reading. All who knew her could appreciate her sassy sense of humor. She is preceded in death by both parents, Frank Ward and Eugenia Froderman; her brother, Theodore Froderman; and her Niece Staci Griffin.
She is survived by her son, Michael Kirk Von Rosenberg, and wife, Stephanie; grandson, Thomas Blake and wife, Chelsey; granddaughter, Emily Blake, and Fiancé, Derrick; brother-in-law, Raymond Von Rosenberg; as well as her nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 1:00 P.M. at the Memorial Oaks Cemetery 13001 Katy Freeway Houston, TX 77079.
