Obituary for Jessamine Derr Guido (Derr)

Jessamine Ramsey Derr Guido, 40, of Salem, crossed over from this life to the next on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Known for warm and fun spirit. She had a special way about her that made anyone that came in contact with her smile. Her laugh was infectious. Jessamine had a strong love for children, she was always willing to babysit for friends and family whenever the need arose. Upon graduating from high school in Salem, she became apart of the family construction business Envisions Contracting, where she spent many years working alongside of her father.
Over the course of several years Jessamine went through several bouts of cancer, and her health began to decline. She endured four years of various health issues, but never lost her joyous spirit and her willingness to keep fighting. After what seemed like an endless battle she is now finally at peace.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Judi Ramsey Derr; She is survived by her father, David Derr; sister Abigail Derr (Blair Whyte); sister McKenzie Derr; a nephew William Ramsey Whyte; and numerous other family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that charitable donations be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research hospital.
The family would like to extend a great gratitude to the staff of Roanoke Memorial Hospital’s Oncology Department, as well as the staff of the Intensive Care Unit for their astounding level of care and compassion. The family would also like to thank the staff of Berkshire Health & Rehabilitation for their care compassion while Jessamine was in their care.
