I am saddened but I am rejoicing as well. For Heaven has the sweetest, kindest, most caring person I ever met to 'lead' his army no doubt!
I had the pleasure of being part of Margaret's life when she was "only 98", her words the day I crossed her path.
She made me want to be a better person. She taught me how to "Just Breathe" ( again her words). And of course the best advice of all, "Don't worry about it"! (Yes, her's).
You see she was a simple women. And in 102 years she had seen it all, heard it all, experienced most of it all. She told me stories about how life was during almost ever era of what, we know so little about, in American history. She amazed me ever single day!
Margaret I hope you know how much you were loved by everyone. No one will ever take your place in my heart!
'Here's to you Mrs. ROBERTSON!'

Margaret Robertson was my second-grade teacher at the oldest South Salem Elementary School, a two-story, four-square building next to the Roanoke River, long since torn down. In my experience, she was one of the sweetest, kindest, most capable educators on the planet. She encouraged children with her smile, her intelligence and her gentle manner. I still recall her introducing us to the perils of spreading rumors by sitting all of us in a circle and having us play the game of "Gossip." We giggled at the end; but we also came to understand the larger message. She encouraged individual creativity and accomplishment. She will be missed.

Ms Robertson was both of my son's 2nd grade teacher. She was my fellow water buddy at the Y where we all loved her. She was a precious, sweet, funny lady and will be really missed.

A part of the 'soul' of First fUnited Methodist Church has passed. Margaret and Greer were integral parts of the fabric that has made FUMC in Salem such a wonderful ministry. Sunday Services, United Methodist Men's, Sunday School, SKY, Vacation Bible School....they were involved in serving the Lord and the community in all of their endeavors. We will miss both of you Margaret and Greer....Thank you for a life well lived in both service and humility....archie and kay thomasson
