Obituary for Richard Lee McCulley Sr.
Richard Lee McCulley, Sr., 77, of Salem, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 30, 2018.
Mr. McCulley coached with the Glenvar Youth Boosters for many years. He retired from Kroger after 38 years of service, and was a long-time member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Raymond and Dessie McCulley; and siblings, Ruth Crook, Raymond McCulley, Jr., Maxine Hamilton, Robert McCulley, Betty Mae McCulley, Charles McCulley, and Bonnie Quesenberry.
His surviving family includes his wife, Ruby Chattin McCulley; sons, Richard McCulley, Jr. and wife, Monica, and Mark McCulley and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Alexandra McCulley, Jackson Stone McCulley, Cassie Jo Brush and husband, Ryan, Kecia Nicole Purser and husband, David, and Sophie Myrtle McCulley; great-grandson, Beckett Christopher Jack Purser; brother, Buddy M. McCulley and wife, Joan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Special appreciation is extended to the entire nursing staff at Lewis-Gale Medical Center for their fantastic attention to Dad and the entire McCulley family.
A period of visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A memorial service will then follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Steve Hall officiating.
