Furman Black "Pat"  Whitescarver Jr.
Furman B. β€œPat” Whitescarver, Jr., 85, of Roanoke County, departed this life on Monday, October 22, 2018.

A native of Salem, he was a 1951 graduate of Andrew Lewis High School, and graduated from Hampton- Sydney College and T.C.Williams School of Law of the University of Richmond.

A lawyer in practice for 56 years, he served as Commissioner of Accounts for Roanoke County and the City of Salem since 1977. Throughout his life he was involved with a number of organizations, including the Blue Ridge Mountains Council – Boy Scouts of America, the Salem Rotary Club, Highland Hunt Club and Fort Lewis Hunt Club.

He is survived by his companion of over twenty-five years, Emily F. Frisbie, and by his three children, Todd Derek Whitescarver of Pinehurst, NC, F. Scott Whitescarver of Raleigh, NC, Carol W. Gardner of Salem, their spouses; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his brother, John Penn Whitescarver and wife Betty of Stuart, FL and Bel Air, MD, and his sister, Maslin W. Kain of Carolina Shores, NC.

Services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, October 26, 2018 at the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem with the Rev. Lew Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Mountains Council – Boy Scouts of America 2131 Valley View Blvd. Roanoke, VA, the Bradley Free Clinic 1240 Southwest Third St. Roanoke, VA or any other charity of your choice.
