Obituary for Lola Mae Hicks (Pack)

Lola Mae Hicks, 92, of Salem, and formerly of Rainelle, WV, went home to be with her Lord and family on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.

She was born in West Virginia, a daughter of the late Richard and Mary Katherine Pack and had been a Salem area resident since 2008. A devoted wife and mother, she loved attending her flowers, canning the bounty of her garden and was an amazing cook. She enjoyed quilting and was an excellent seamstress. Lola was a loving and caring person, who would often be found visiting the homebound and sharing her blessings and talents with all. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rainelle, and recently had been attending the West Salem Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a remarkable lady of immense grace, selflessness and faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Carmel D. Hicks, seven brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda Curd and husband Tom, Sheila Kay Smith and husband Phil, and Donna Hetherington and husband John. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Shelaine, Tommi, Ronnie, Shawna and Chad; eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM, Friday, August 10, 2018 with services beginning at 7 PM at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. Burial will be held at 1PM, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Valley View Cemetery in Hinton, WV.
