Obituary for Charlotte McDonald Guthrie (McDonald)

Charlotte McDonald Guthrie, age 75, formerly of Roanoke, Va. went to be with the Lord peacefully on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at her home in Churchville, Va. She was born on Thursday, July 1, 1943 to the late Alden and Connie McDonald.
Charlotte was a Quality Control Manager for Malnove Corporation in Florida.
She loved to shop, cook meals for her family, and spend time with her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed the ocean and was an avid beach goer! Her most cherished times spent at the beach were with her adoring family who loved to be near her because she had such a likable fun going personality. She never sugar coated anything, but she always had a positive outlook on any situation. Everyone looked to her for advice, and she always brought comfort wherever she was found.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest treasure.
Everyone who met Charlotte loved her, and she never met a stranger. She was a hard worker and a very giving woman, she would give you the shirt off her back if she thought you needed it. She always made sure those closest to her never went without. She will be deeply missed by everyone.
She is preceded in death by her son, Milton Denny, III; sisters, Judy Shober and Claudine Trent; brother, Rodney McDonald; and her beloved grandson, Kyle Saul, II.
Many who are left to cherish her memory include her husband, William E. Guthrie; children, Patricia Flynn, William E. Guthrie, Jr., and Tonya Guthrie; sisters, Barbara Stewart, and Joyce Moore; brother, Virgil McDonald; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service to celebrate Charlotte’s life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerome Denny officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Roanoke, Va.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 6 – 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 12 – 2 p.m.
