Beatrice Mae “Bea” Bowles, age 86, of Salem, Va. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. She was born on Friday, January 8, 1932 to the late Edward J. and Doris Thompson Aruther. Bea was a loving; wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She worked for Tom’s Potato Chips in Salem for 22 years, while there she helped her late husband James William Bowles, Sr. run Bowles Brothers Paving Company. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children; Eddie Bowles, James W. Bowles, Jr. both of Salem, Va., and Deborah Lucas of Roanoke, Va.; grandchildren, Brian Bowles, Marisa Bowles, Jeremy Bowles, Zackary Bowles, and Phillip Honig, Jr.; one great-grandchild, Karley Honig; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, Va. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, Va.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday, May 13, 2018 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m.
