Obituary for Charles Jackson "Jack" Pendleton

Charles Jackson (Jack) Pendleton, 74, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 26, 2018.

Jack was a hard-working man who enjoyed music, was a phenomenal grill master, adored his dog, “Rosebud,” was a hero of many, fiercely loved his family, and shared a true love story with his wife, Emilu.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Sherman and Catherine Pendleton; stepson, Danny McCoy; and brothers, Johnny, Steve, and Vincent Pendleton.

His surviving family includes his wife, Emily A. Pendleton; children, Sara Pendleton, Tammy D. Nelson and husband, Russell, Ellett Underwood and wife, Sarah, Becky Sexton and husband, James, Sabrina Pendleton, Janet McCoy, Christopher Smith and wife, Norah, April Pendleton, and Kelly Beth Pendleton; 19 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathy Chrisman and husband, Chris; sisters-in-law, Rhonda Pendleton and Belinda Pendleton; and many nieces and nephews.

The family extends appreciation to Dr. Patel and the nursing staff at Lewis-Gale Medical Center as well as Jack’s pastor and good friend, Don Woodard, for all of their gentle, loving, professional, and courteous care.

A period of visitation will take place on Saturday, December 29, 2018, from 12 to 2 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with pastor and friend, Don Woodard, officiating.
