Hilda Joyce Slone, 76, of Salem, Virginia, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018 at her home.

Hilda was born June 10, 1942 in Roanoke, Virginia. She graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in 1960, and on June 25 she married Donald Kenneth Slone. She was employed by GE as an order service clerk for 33 years. She was an active member of North Roanoke Baptist Church and president of her bible study class. Hilda loved reading, The Dallas Cowboys, her dog Julius and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She always looked forward to celebrating Christmas Eve with her family!

Hilda is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald Slone of Salem, VA; two sons, Christopher Rutledge Slone and his wife Dreama of Blue Ridge, VA, and Jason Hamilton Slone of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter Katie (Foley) Slone, 2 great-granddaughters, Scarlett Foley and Kennedy Slone, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank Leslie & Nancie Blanche (Owens) Clark.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at the Chapel of John M Oakey, Salem. Reverend Claude Carter will be officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the funeral home.
