Obituary for Joshua Bailey

Joshua Bailey, 29, of Christiansburg and Roanoke, Va., passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Josh attended Christiansburg High School and then Radford University where he majored in Biology which led him to his job at Novozymes in Salem, Va.

Josh was preceded in death by his father, Mark Bailey; his brother, Kevin Bailey; his grandparents, Barbara Gray and Lorenzo Juan Llama; and his uncle, Vincent Bailey.

He leaves behind his wife, Spenser Bailey; newborn daughter, Gemma Bailey; mother, Maria Bailey; as well as many extended family and friends.

Josh was an amazing man who was taken from us way too soon. Josh loved to hike, fish, kayak, travel, and cuddle with his three dogs on the couch. He had the best sense of humor and loved to joke with his wife and coworkers. He was very passionate about his work in science and he loved to play games and spend time with his family and friends. Josh was a very loving man and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

A period of visitation for Josh will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A memorial service will immediately follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor J.R. Graybill officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Josh’s honor to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be expressed at www.johnmoakey.com.
