Condolence: Words simply can’t express the sorrow that I feel knowing that Ginger is no longer here in body. She was the sister that I had always wanted. The sister that I got for a very short time after she came to live with us when I was younger.

I’m blessed to have so many fond memories of her during that time. She never saw me as the annoying family member that bugged her. She always invited me into her room or her space, where we would spend hours rocking back and fourth listening to music or flipping through magazines. She even let me brush her hair for her. I looked up to her so much. Everything she had, I just had to copy. From a pet guinea pig to plants for our bedrooms.

I still remember her and I trying to ride the same bicycle together when my mother came running out of the house to let us know that she won money from the nightly lotto and that we could now go to the local carnival that was in town. We fell from the bicycle screaming from excitement.

Sadly not long after that time we drifted apart as many families do. People get busy with life and their own families. Only seeing each other only on holidays or special occasions. And sometimes not at all.

I’ve once read the following passage and it rings very true.

“Treasure your cousins, they were your first friends and will love you forever. Cousins are those childhood playmates who grow up to be forever friends. Cousin to cousin we'll always be, Special friends from the same family tree. A cousin is a ready-made friend for life”

Unfortunately this isn’t always the case. Sometimes there is no connection or it’s only one sided. With Ginger though, I’ve always felt a special connection. Thinking myself that it was only one sided because of our age difference. It wasn’t until just a few years ago that she confirmed that she too felt the same connection with me.

My heart goes out to her son Draven and to Aunt Edie and Uncle Don. And to everyone that knew and loved her. My dear cousin Ginger may be gone in body but she will live on in the hearts and memories. So I can’t say goodbye to this special soul today because she will live on in my heart and memory forever.

Condolence: We are so very sorry for your loss. Having experienced the loss of an adult child our hearts are breaking for you. Ginger fought a long hard battle with diabetes and her weary soul is now at rest, her battles are over. She was Mary Lou and Roman's pride and joy, now she is at home with them. So sorry we could not make it to the Service, but our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. May God send you peace, love and comfort as you travel this difficult journey.

Condolence: Rest In Peace cousin. Your battle with diabetes was long and hard throughout your life, but the Lord has finally called you home. By your Facebook postings, it was clear to see your two greatest loves were the Lord and your son Draven.
