Obituary for Sean Matthew "Tiki" Gladden

Sean Matthew “Tiki” Gladden, 36, of Salem, died Tuesday, October 9, 2018.
The world of those who knew and loved Sean will never be as bright again. He was a loving son, brother and friend. He is survived by his mother, Nancy Gladden; father, Chris Gladden; brother, Will Gladden; two aunts, several cousins and many, many friends.
His love and loyalty knew no bounds. Sean had a courage few of us could comprehend. Sadly, life was not as kind to Sean as he was to others. He was a casualty of opioid addiction.
He had a sly but keen sense of humor. He relished trips to the Outer Banks, was tender with animals and could hit a golf ball a ton. Sean also was an avid and knowledgeable sports fan – go Hoos. He loved music and movies and was an astute critic of both. Phish and the Grateful Dead were at the top of his play list. Friends unfailingly called him “a good guy with a big heart”.
Tiki, may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest with Trey and Jerry shredding hot licks along the way.
A gathering of friends will be held from 1 to 3 PM, Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in his memory be made to Roanoke Valley Hope 1240 3rd St. S.W. Roanoke, VA 24016. An online guest book is available for family and friends by visiting www.johnmoakey.com.
