Obituary for Franklin Donald "Don" Moran Jr.

A great man was lost on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at the age of 75.

Franklin Donald Moran, Jr. was a devoted son, father, and friend to all. Don proudly served and employed many in Salem, Va. for the past 50 years where he was known for his kindness and generosity. To those who knew him well, he wore a smile on his face and had a story to tell.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother, Franklin, Dorothy, and John. Don had a special bond with his only sibling, where they were commonly known as “Don and John,” growing up in Staunton, Va.

He was a supportive father to his two daughters, Samantha and Donna Moran; and son, Troy Argabright. Other surviving family members include his niece, Cynthia; and his seven grandchildren, Kelsey, Ashlynn, Payton, Alyssa, Troy Jr., Nathaniel, and John; and a great-grandchild, Eli.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2018, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2018, also in the funeral home’s chapel. Interment will directly follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
