Obituary for Jacqueline Elaine Compton (Michael)

Jacqueline Elaine Compton (Michael)
Jacqueline Elaine Michael Compton, age 76, of Christiansburg passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018 at her home. Born on Wednesday, August 5, 1942 in Staunton, Augusta County, Va. to the late Louis Joseph Michael and Alva Bernice Good Michael. Jackie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She grew up in Newport News, Va. and graduated from Warwick High School and worked for the Newport News Police Department. She became the secretary to the Chief of Police after working in the traffic bureau, the I.D. bureau, and the Detective Bureau. She was an excellent marksman with handguns and gave many demonstrations for women and children’s groups. Jackie was a very popular member of the James River Hunt. Her life was centered around her family and her love of horses. She showed horses, trained, competed, and taught riding in Va., Ga., Fl., and Ca. The range of her pupils included well known celebrities, their children, 4-H groups, “stick horse” shows, and teaching “roughneck cowboys” how to train their horses. She gained their acceptance and respect quickly with her skill and confidence.
She was loved all the days of her life, her presence brought smiles and happiness. Her genuine happy personality and natural beauty would light any room she entered. Those left to cherish the memory of her warmth, happiness, and beauty include her husband of 57 years William Gaines Compton whom she married in 1962; two daughters, Heather Lee Compton Dzib, and husband, Alberto, and Dusty Lee Compton; grandchildren Alexis, Halee, Sophia, and Saazo; two great-grandchildren.
In keeping with Jackie’s wishes there will be no services.
