Obituary for Mary B. Cline (Branch)
Mary Virginia Branch Cline passed away peacefully on July 18, 2018, at the age of 97. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon C. Cline, and a son, Charles E. Cline.
She is survived by a daughter, Lucy C. Weiss, and her husband, Richard; by a son, Marvin A. Cline, and his wife, Rama; a granddaughter, Carly M. Cline, and daughter-in-law, Shelia Cline.
Mary was a graduate of Andrew Lewis High School and National Business College. She applied her typing and shorthand skills as a legal secretary prior to continuing her education at Roanoke College and the University of Virginia. She was then employed at the Salem Veterans Administration Hospital before “retiring” to start a family and become a homemaker.
Mary was a long-term member of College Lutheran Church in Salem, where she assisted with various activities and applied her skills as a pianist.
For the last few years of her life, Mary resided at the Hermitage in Roanoke. Her family wishes to thank the Hermitage staff for their kind and respectful caregiving during this time.
Mary was a generous person and contributed to numerous charities. Thus, in lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorials to College Lutheran Church, the Hermitage in Roanoke, or a charity of your choice.
