Obituary for Ella Dunn Gerner

Ella Dunn Gerner, 94, of Roanoke, and formerly of Milledgeville, GA passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017.

Mrs. Gerner was born December 6, 1923 in Sparta, GA, a daughter of the late Charlie Cecil Dunn and Tinie Louise Smith Dunn. She was an avid bridge player, very social and family oriented, and loved attending church.

Ella is survived by her son, J. Eric Gerner and wife, Kim; brother, Robert Allen Dunn, and wife, Jackie; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Albert Gerner; sons, Robert Brian Gerner and Wesley Charles Gerner; brothers, Carl Dunn and Randall Dunn; sisters, Jimmie Stephenson and Margie Hawkins.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 from the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, with Pastor Tim Gearheart officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
