Mary Agnes (Campbell) Washburn, 67, currently of Salem, VA and formerly of Dover, Del. and Staunton, VA, crossed over into the loving arms of her Savior on Sunday, December 10, 2017 due to complications from Huntington’s Disease. Mary was born as the only child to the late Lester and Margaret Campbell in Waynesboro, VA on December 13, 1949.
Mary is survived by her children, Melinda Washburn Rector of Roanoke, VA and William Christopher Washburn of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Katie Washburn of Dover, Del. And Thomas Rector of Roanoke, VA; and several first cousins.
Mary was a graduate of Riverheads High School in Augusta County and a proud member of the Delaware
Army National Guard.
Mary lived in Felton, Delaware for many years and worked for the Kent County Superior Court Prothonotary’s office.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Richfield Recovery and Care Center on 3W for the loving care they provided to Mary. They would also like to acknowledge her special friend and roommate, Gwendolyn Davis, who she cared for very much.
A period of visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Masons Cove Church of the Brethren, 3630 Bradshaw Road, Salem, with Pastor Sam Huntley, Sr. and Pastor Tom Powers officiating.
