Ronald Lee "Ron"  Hedin
Ronald “Ron” Hedin, 75, of Salem, VA and formerly of Rockford, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jane Hedin; and parents Walter and Carolyn Hedin.
Ron loved trains and really enjoyed traveling. He a life-long Chicago Bears fan and from time to time he liked to golf. Ron 4 avid jokester making him the “life of the party”.
Left to cherish his memory are children, Jeff Hedin and wife, Lisa, of Rockford, IL, Scott Hedin of Denver, CO, and Debi Hedin and fiancé, Tim Jones of Wytheville, VA; sister, Sharon Lynch of Las Vegas, NV; and grandchildren, Noah Hedin, Shane Clapsaddle, Jacob Clapsaddle, Felicia Severson, Joey Severson, Andrew Severson, and Sarah Severson-Hedin all of Rockford, IL.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the funeral home with Chaplain Dave Vanderpool officiating. An interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital’s doctors and staff for everything they did for Ron.
