Obituary for Doris Dunman Furrow (Dunman)

Doris Dunman  Furrow (Dunman)
Doris Dunman Furrow, 91, of Salem, went to Heaven to be with Jesus on Friday, November 10, 2017.

She was born in Roanoke, a daughter of the late William H. and Ella Orange Dunman and had been an area resident for most of her life. She graduated from National Business College and was employed at Norfolk Southern Railroad prior to retiring. Mrs. Furrow enjoyed outdoor gardening, landscaping, traveling to the beach and collecting antique dolls. She also had the distinction of earning her solo pilots license. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Ralph Furrow, two brothers, William ‘Bill’ and Carl Dunman, and a sister, Ruth Johnson.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra F. Whitt and husband Charles, and Tina G. Collins and husband Eddy. Also surviving is her brother, Danny C. Dunman; four grandchildren, Darrah McDermott, Lisa Crumley, Dana Grubbs, Carla McComas, their spouses, and 18 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 PM, Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. The Rev. Todd Stiffler will officiate.
