The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Dr. Charles Boggs can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: I served at Sheldon Jackson College with Charlie. We were roommates in the dorm assigned for volunteers. He was an unparalleled story teller. I could not believe the exacting details of his life experiences that he was able to recall as he told of those experiences. He might tell you some highway he took on one of his excursions, but would also tell you what the speed limit was and what exit number he took. That is no exaggeration. That is how amazing his retention was for detail, especially when some of those experiences were decades ago. Simply amazing.

Condolence From: Liz and "Dr. Sam" Williams
Condolence: Shortly after Liz and I moved to the Roanoke Valley 37 years ago, I joined Dr. Ed Williams in surgical practice. Charlie and Ed had been great friends and colleagues for a long time. And Charlie immediately adopted me, a newly-minted, wet-behind-the-ears surgeon. That I would soon contribute time and talent to the surgical services of his dear VA department-- was a given! And he and his daughter, even in his twilight years, made both Liz and me feel part of his family. Charlie will be greatly missed! Our thoughts and prayers are with the rest of his family, especially during the coming holiday season...

Condolence: Dr. Boggs was one of the sweetest men I've ever met. He always walked with kindness towards everyone. His faith in Christ and his presence will never be forgotten. Praying for you and yours. 2 Cor. 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
