Obituary for Lisa Britts McDaniel

Lisa Britts McDaniel
Lisa Britts (Craft) McDaniel, 53, of Salem, passed away Friday, August 18, 2017

I was welcomed into the world on Memorial Day 1964 to loving parents Don and Mary Ellen Lamb Britts, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, graduated from Giles High School and attended Concord University, Wytheville Community College, and Radford University, earning both my Bachelor and Master’s Degrees. I later attended the College of Health Sciences at Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley, where I achieved my Certificate in Health Services Management. While in college I was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, and the White Rose Society.

I served as the Executive Director of Blue Ridge Health Care Coalition, Inc., and won a Coalition Award for collaboration achievements in managed care, and spent many years in employee benefits programs. I was a member of Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church in Roanoke, my love of travel took me through 45 states, Caribbean Islands, and parts of Europe, and I have truly loved being an Air Force wife and a proud mother.

In addition to my parents, I am survived by my loving husband, Thomas Wayne McDaniel, Jr., Chief Master Sgt., USAF (Ret.); my son, Seth Davidson McDaniel; brother, Brian Britts, who was definitely my Rock; my paternal aunt, Mary Virginia Santolla of Hoges Chapel, VA; sister-in-law, Cindy Dowdy and husband Tim of Narrows, VA; a niece, Bree Smith of Radford, VA; great-niece, Alanah Grey Poole of Radford; my little dog and constant companion, Rocky, and numerous friends and cousins.

Services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Salem. Rev. Joseph P. Lehman will officiate. Interment services will then be held at 3PM, Wednesday at Birchlawn Burial Park 177 Birchlawn Cir. Pearisburg, VA. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 PM, Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. An online guestbook is available for family and friends by visiting www.johnmoakey.com.
