Helen Thomas Robertson, 89, of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017.

She is survived by her husband, of 60 years, William “Bill” Howard Robertson, Sr.; son, William “Billy” Howard Robertson, Jr. and wife, Susan Delano Robertson; granddaughter, Erin Nicole Robertson; and brother, Farris M. Thomas of Middleton, Wisconsin.

Helen was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She participated in numerous activates including Guild member, sang in the choir and held the position of Choir Mother beginning in 1960. She was also instrumental in forming a group of ladies who yearly fashioned palm crosses which the congregation wore on Palm Sunday. The Friends of the Salem Library recently established the Helen T. Robertson Award for dedication and extended service. She volunteered many hours to the Salem Food Pantry including serving as a buyer for 14 years. Helen loved playing bridge with her bridge group and at the Salem Senior Center. She also enjoyed attending the Showtimers Community Theatre performances beginning with their early days at the Roanoke College Lab Theatre.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 4, 2017, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Salem.

In lieu of flowers, Helen has requested that donations be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Endowment Fund or Good Samaritan Hospice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.johnmoakey.com.
