Joe Allen "Potsey"  Prillaman
Joe Allen “Potsey” Prillaman, 77, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in Greensboro, N.C. He was the husband of the late Georgia Glass Prillaman.
Mr. Prillaman was born January 17, 1940, in Rocky Mount, Virginia, a son of the late George Noel “Pop” Prillaman and Hester Dobson Prillaman. He owned and operated Joe A. Prillaman Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. for 40 years. After retiring, he co-owned Potsey Joe’s Restaurant in Salem. Mr. Prillaman was an honorary lifetime member of the Penguin Club. During his career he traveled the world and enjoyed collecting many things, golfing, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Prillaman was preceded in death by his sister, Logene Cannady; and two brothers, Bill Prillaman and Morris Prillaman.
Mr. Prillaman is survived by two sons Mark Anthony Prillaman and wife, Tracy, and George Allen Prillaman; a brother, Ray Prillaman and wife, Audrey; five grandchildren Brittany Prillaman, Rachel Prillaman, Timmy Prillaman, Christopher Prillaman, and Samantha Skipwith; and two great-grandchildren, Colton Prillaman and Peyton Skipwith.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, May 26, 2017, from the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem with Pastor Donette Spence officiating followed by interment in Church Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be W.G. Crotts, Don Holter, Lewis Bohannon, Jim Fender, James Martin, and Bobby Shumate.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem.
