Michael David Berbert, 59, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Shirley Berbert; mother-in-law, Jo Oakey Crowder; beloved nephew, Stephen Jay Eisenberg; and sister-in-law, Winsor Crowder St.Clair.

His surviving family includes his wife of 35 years, Tanya Crowder Berbert; daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and McCoy Loya; and son Michael Graham Berbert. He is also survived by the apple of his eye, his first-born grandchild, Paisley Kay Loya.

In addition, Mike is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Elliot Eisenberg; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Melvin and Becky Crowder; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gudrun and Todd Reeder; brother-in-law, Kenneth St.Clair; nieces and nephews, Abby and Chris Klein, William and Sarah Francisco, Carly Francisco, and Tiffany Neufeld; favorite cousins, Lucia and “Mulie” Craighead and Elizabeth and Casey Mills; along with other family and friends.

Our family is eternally grateful for the wonderful care that Mike received from Good Samaritan Hospice, especially Monica, Allie, and Cynde, as well as Interim Healthcare. We are also grateful for the compassion and love with which he was welcomed by the body of believers at Edgewood Christian Church, most especially Brian Orahood and Perry and Sylvia Bailey.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Sherwood Memorial Park with Brian Orahood, minister, officiating.
