Obituary for Tyler Kaden Croke

Tyler Kaden Croke, 23, of Salem, Va. and El Paso, Texas went to be with the Lord, Sunday May 7, 2017.
Tyler graduated from Salem High School as class of 2011. He was the captain of his youth ice hockey team. Tyler was a United States Army combat veteran that served overseas in Afghanistan.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Dr. Alan J. Atha; paternal grandparents, Richard P. Croke and Barbara A. Croke; and uncles, Timothy A. Atha and Patrick J. Croke.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Kjersten E. and Matthew E. Croke; wife, Rachel L. Croke; son, Kaden Timothy Croke; siblings, Patrick O. Croke, Rory A. Croke, and Jack J. Croke; maternal grandmother, Gail R. Ofte-Atha; aunts, Erin A. Parker, Katie Croke, Molly Croke and Meg Hewitt; uncle, Michael Croke; and numerous cousins and friends that will miss him.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 125 W Main St, Salem, VA 24153, with Pastor Bobby Pickle and Reverend Grayson Atha officiating. A committal with military honors will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem.
