Dorothy May  Hancock (Gordon)
Dorothy May Hancock, 89, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 6, 2017.

She sowed the Gospel Seed all her life and right up until the last couple of weeks before her death. Frequently, she made CDs containing the Gospel and gave them away. She also included Gospel tracts in envelopes when paying her bills. Many beautiful quilts made by her hand were also given away to nursing homes and orphanages.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Charles Leonard and Fanny May Gordon; husband, Ernest Hancock; and daughter, Shirley Loggins.

Her surviving family includes her children, Barbara (Patty) Holdren and husband, Leslie, Arnetta Allen and husband, Bob, Linda Butcher and husband, Gary, William (Bill) McPherson and wife, Tammy, Charles Ferguson and fiancée, Julie Herdman, Anthony Ferguson and wife, Sandy, Albert Riffe and wife, Julie, and Rebecca King; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and prayer buddy, Mary Pettrey.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2017, at The House of Prayer located at 2521 Portland Avenue in Roanoke. Dorothy’s funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, also at the church, with Pastor Gary Butcher officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
