Obituary for Norma Bowles

Norma Bowles
Norma Lee Bowles, 83, of Roanoke, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 4, 2017.

She was born in Roanoke County, a daughter of the late Elgin and Alice Galliher Johnson, and had been an area resident most of her life. She was a long time member of Central United Methodist Church, where she was very active in the United Methodist Women, and by expressing her love of singing, in the church choir. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Kenneth Bowles; three daughters, Nancy Harrison and husband Roger, Sharon Price and husband Scott, and Susan Beaton; six grandchildren, Lee and Ben Harrison, Brittney and Taylor Price, Amber Dodge and Ashley Soard; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Otis Johnson and wife Mamie; special niece, Tammy Dunn, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. The Rev. Ben Lockhart will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
