Peggy Jane Breeden Ludlum, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2017, in Salem, Virginia. with her family by her side.

Mrs. Ludlum is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Allen Ludlum Hoback and Andrew Fishburne Hoback of Salem, Virginia, and Beth Ludlum Mabey and Joseph Ford Mabey, Jr. of New Orleans, Louisiana. Also surviving are cousins, James Franklin and Linda Nugent Ford of Gadsden, Alabama, John Lloyd Ford and Brunhilde Stickler Ford and their children of Pasadena, Texas, James Gregory Ford of Birmingham, Alabama, Michael Howard Ford and Dawn Ledbetter Ford of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Peggy Ford Chastain of Glencoe, Alabama.

She was predeceased by beloved husband, James Edwin Ludlum; son, James Scott Ludlum; parents, Oscar Tillman Breeden, Sr. and Allen Millican Breeden; and brother, Oscar Tillman Breeden, Jr.

Born in Keener, Alabama on Sunday, September 10, 1933, Peggy was raised in Glencoe and attended Jacksonville State University and Howard College, now Samford University in Birmingham. Married to the love of her life, Jim, in 1956, they were separated by his death in Roanoke, Virginia in 2010. Peggy Jane will be lovingly remembered for her treasured holiday gatherings and as a consummate daughter, wife, mother and friend.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Crestwood Funeral Home at 2209 East Broad Street in Gadsden, Alabama, 256-492-5544. Interment will be private.
