Vivian Coleman "Nan"  Caldwell (Coleman)
Vivian “Nan” Coleman Caldwell, 83, of Salem went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 18, 2017.

A native and lifelong Salem resident, she was the daughter of the late Hillary H. and Florence Matz Coleman. Nan was employed for many years as an administrative assistant, but her true calling was providing loving childcare to countless children, both in and outside of her family. She loved reading, working puzzles and crafts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Coleman, and a sister, Gail Bond.

A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her children, Steven E. Hickson, Sr. and wife Angela, Connie Deel and husband Ron, June Shay, and Melanie Renee Boles and her husband Russell.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Eric Fleshman, Steve E. Hickson, Jr., Jeffrey Hickson, Aaron Gluth, Amanda Waldron, Nate Shay, Shane Boles and Chris Shay; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Phillip Coleman, and three sisters, Joyce Coleman, Sylvia Johnston and Elaine Hanes.

A memorial service will be held at 3PM, Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. The Rev Louis Glockner will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the American Lung Association 55 W.
