Obituary for Ruby Manning Hammersley (Witt)
Heaven has gained a new angel as Ruby Manning Hammersley, 84, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 following a short illness.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Harry and Alice Witt; first husband, Jacob I. Manning; second husband, Ernest V. Hammersley; and brothers, Robert, Lester, and John Witt.
Her surviving family includes her children, Bonnie Worley and husband, Jonny, Peggy Fagg and husband, Steven, Donna Sakiey and husband, James, and Richard Manning; grandchildren, Christy Fagg, Stephanie Parker and husband, Derrick, and J.R. Sakiey; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Farmer, Geraldine Manning, and Maxine Jones; and many other family members.
The family thanks Ruby’s granddaughter, Dr. Christy Fagg, for her loving care and support during her hospital stay.
A period of visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on December 17, 2016 in the funeral home’s chapel with Rev. Sherwood Spence officiating. Entombment will be private.
