Pateresia (Patti)  Gwaltney (Pyott)
Pateresia (Patti) Pyott Gwaltney (affectionately known as "Potsi"), 82, of Salem, passed away surrounded by friends and family on Monday, September 19, 2016. She was born on October 28, 1933 at Tip Top, Virginia, to the late John and Georgia Johnson Pyott. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Frank Pyott.

She was a retired employee of Roanoke County Schools, she and her family were charter members of the West Side Church of Christ in Salem since 1967.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charles T. Gwaltney; daughter, Charlene Guard and her husband, Danny; daughter, Annette Shrader and her husband, Lyn; brother, Jack Pyott and his wife, Alice; sister-in-law, Mrs. Frank (Libby) Pyott; four grandchildren, Josh Shrader; Dee Reynolds and her husband, James; Caleb Guard and his wife, Carrie; Luke Guard and his wife, Ashton; four great-grandchildren, Aleyna House, Noah Guard, Hudson Guard and Levi Guard; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family and devoted friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with Eddy Gilpin and Jeff Durham officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at John M. Oakey & Son in Salem. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Cure by Design (American Cancer Society), 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, Virginia 24018. Arrangements by John M. Oakey & Son, Salem.
