Obituary for Virginia Bernice "Polly" Louthen (Cooper)

Virginia (Polly) Louthen, 83, of Roanoke County, was called to her Heavenly home on Monday, September 5, 2016.

Polly was retired from General Electric after 32 years of service. She was an avid gardener, loved to travel, and was devoted to her family, friends, and pets.

Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Iva Cooper; husband, Tommy Louthen, Jr.; and siblings, Julian and Freddie Cooper, and Ruth Cooper Billings.

Her surviving family includes her children, Ronald Louthen and wife, Robin, Darla Wilson and husband, Todd, and Lisa Moles and husband, Jon; grandchildren, Benjamin Louthen and wife, Chelsea, Garrett Louthen, Makenzie and Matthew Hunt, and Shelby Moles; one great-grandson on the way; siblings, Helen Dede, Deanna Kesler and husband, Tom, Curtis Cooper and wife, Peggy, and Lawrence Cooper and wife, Suzanne; sister-in-law, Jean Grubb; numerous nieces and nephews; and adored pets, Weensie and Priss Irvin.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2016 in the funeral home’s chapel with Pastor Stuart Kelly officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
