David Norris  Journell Jr.
David Norris Journell, Jr., 58, of Salem, went to join his heavenly family on Monday, August 29, 2016. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oscar Preston and Glenna Mae Mowles; father, David Norris Journell, Sr.; and daughter, Melissa Wertz.
David was a loyal, loving, and caring person. A generous man, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was an avid UVA fan, and greatly enjoyed watching their football games. He loved his music, and also had a great love of animals. He was dedicated and passionate in his work for AEP, where he was a Lineman for 38 years. Above all, family was most important to him. He was deeply proud of his children and grandchildren.
Family left to cherish his memory include his mother, Joan Marie Lilly; wife of 23 years, Kim Journell; children, William (Billy) Journell and wife, Patricia, and Emily Lynn Journell; grandchildren, Allison Clinevell and Preston Journell; sisters, Tina Marie Journell and Melanie, and Deborah Wimmer and husband Mark; and his special friends at AEP.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 6 until 9 pm at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A celebration of David’s life will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.
