Obituary for Jack Wayne Gibson

Jack Wayne  Gibson
Jack Wayne Gibson, 68, of Salem, went on his permanent vacation to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, August 17, 2016.

He owned and operated Jack Gibson Radiator Service in Salem where he was known by many in the business community. Jack lived for his family, Marcia, Jack Jr., and Katie.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Oscar and Myrtie Gibson; in-laws, Joe and Dorothy Bandy; sister, Naida Saunders; beloved little brother, Pete Gibson; one like a brother, Smokey Gordon; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Emil and Janet Shrewsberry; and beloved dog, Buddy.

His surviving family includes his wife of 48 years, Marcia Gibson; children, Jack Gibson Jr. and Katie Blair and husband, Brandon; siblings, Millie Wade, Tom Gibson and wife, Joyce, Dick Gibson and wife, Sue, and Doug Gibson and wife, Judy; brother-in-law, Ray Saunders; numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws; and granddaughter on the way, Brianna Blair.

The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Q. Raza as well as the staff at the Fresenius Dialysis Center in Salem for going above and beyond the call of duty to keep Jack as comfortable as possible.

A period of visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016 in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2016 in the funeral home’s chapel with Rev. Doug Gibson and Rev. JR Shelor officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke.
