Obituary for Jeffrey Stewart Young

Jeffrey S. Young, 49, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 17, 2013.
He was born in Roanoke, a son of Carl Young and Judy Thompson Young and had been an area resident all of his life. He was a self-employed graphic artist, specializing in screen-printing and monogramming. Jeff enjoyed riding motorcycles and golf, and was a member of Salem Moose Lodge # 2573 and a long time member of the Penguin Club in Salem. He was preceded in death by a brother, Steven Andrew Young.
He is survived by his loving wife, Missy Young; his mother Judy Young; father Carl Young and step-mother Liz; a brother, Kevin Young; mother-in-law, Marcy Galitsky; brother-in-law, Jason Galitsky and his wife Pam; two nephews, Josh Young and Carter Galitsky; a special cousin, Jim Martin; his loving dog Chopper, as well as numerous other cousins and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Jeff’s life will be held at 11AM, Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM, Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Duke Children’s Hospital, Office of Development, 512 South Magnum St. Suite 400 Durham, NC 27701, or by visiting www.gifts.duke.edu/dch.
